Calling all dapper dudes and motorcycle enthusiasts! The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) is roaring back into action this weekend, bigger and better than ever! This year, over 70,000 riders across the globe in more than 950 cities are set to take part, making it the most epic DGR yet! We're talking gents in sharp suits, classic motorcycles, and good vibes all around – all for a fantastic cause!
Founded in 2012 by the awesome Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia, DGR is all about combining your love for vintage motorcycles with raising money for some seriously important men's health initiatives. Think prostate cancer research and men's mental health charities – big thumbs up from ThrottleChimp!
Since its kickstand went up, DGR has raised a whopping $49 million, and this year Hawwa has set his sights on an ambitious (but totally achievable) goal of reaching $9 million! That's some serious fundraising muscle, and it's all thanks to the incredible participants and organizers who make this event happen.
Here at ThrottleChimp™, we're all about celebrating passionate riders and and events that do good, so DGR is right up our alley. It's not just about raising money though (although that's super important), it's also a ton of fun! Imagine cruising down the streets with a bunch of other dapper gents on their classic bikes – pure awesomeness!
Looking to Score a Sweet Prize or Just Want to Support a Good Cause? DGR Has You Covered!
Whether you're a lone wolf rider or prefer to roll with a crew, there are ways to get involved and win some epic prizes. There are leaderboards for individual riders, top fundraising pillions (we see you ladies!), and even teams. This year, the top dog on the leaderboard is Triumph Motorcycles, a DGR supporter for over a decade. These guys are serious about fundraising, having already racked up an impressive £54,975 at the time of writing! That's some serious cash for a great cause!
Here's the cherry on top: Triumph is giving away a one-of-a-kind 2024 Thruxton Final Edition café racer to the global top fundraiser this year! This beaut is the last of its kind, so you won't find another one like it anywhere else. Feeling lucky?
On top of the grand prize, Triumph is also selling a special DGR clothing line on their website, with 15% of all sales going to charity. Look sharp and do good at the same time? We approve!
Not Just About Triumph Though, Plenty of Other Awesome Brands Are on Board Too!
DGR isn't a one-man (or should we say one-brand) show. Other big names like Elf lubricants, Hedon helmets, and Quadlock are also official sponsors, chipping in with even more prizes for all you fundraising superstars.
Here's a quick rundown of what you could win:
- Top fundraiser: Triumph Thruxton Final Edition, special edition Hedon x DGR Kingpin helmet, and a lifetime supply of bragging rights
- 2nd place: Triumph Bonneville T120 Black (because black goes with everything, obviously)
- 3rd place: Triumph Scrambler 1200 (perfect for those who like to explore off the beaten path)
- Top 100 fundraisers: A snazzy $249 voucher to spend on Quadlock's website
Not bad, right? There are also 61 rides happening across England alone, so chances are there's one happening near you.
So what are you waiting for? Dust off your finest suit, polish up your motorcycle, and head over to the DGR website to register. It's going to be a legendary ride for a fantastic cause! See you there, gents!
